SamCERA will hold a special election on August 10, 2026 to fill the unexpired Safety Member Seventh Seat on the Board of Retirement. Active Safety members can run with a nomination petition signed by at least ten (10) SamCERA Safety members. The elected candidate will serve through June 30, 2027.

Please note: In Accordance with Government Code section 31523, Safety-Probation members cannot run for this vacancy because the Alternate Safety Member Seventh Seat is currently filled with a Safety-Probation member.

NOTICE OF SPECIAL ELECTION

TO ELECT A SAFETY MEMBER TO THE BOARD OF RETIREMENT

Notice is hereby given that one SAFETY MEMBER is to be elected to fill the unexpired term for the seventh position on SamCERA’s Board of Retirement at a special election to be held on August 10, 2026.

Safety Member Eligibility: Candidates must be active SamCERA Safety members. Each candidate for the Safety Member position shall be nominated by a petition signed by not less than ten (10) SamCERA Safety Members. No member shall sign more than one Nominating Petition for this election.

Member Term: The Safety Member elected to fill the Seventh seat shall serve the remaining term, expiring June 30, 2027.

Required Nomination Petitions & Declarations of Candidacy: Nomination petitions and Declarations of Candidacy will be available and can be circulated beginning Monday, June 8 through Monday, June 22, 2026. Qualified Candidates may obtain petitions in person at:

Completed Nomination Petition & Declaration of Candidacy: These completed forms must be filed in person with the Registration & Elections Division no later than 5:00 p.m. on Monday, June 22, 2026.
